Michael P. Sheehy has built an exceptional reputation and practice focusing entirely on criminal defense. His lengthy career as a prosecutor gave him invaluable insight into the criminal justice system and his experience has produced exceptional results for his clients.
His focus and interest in criminal law began after he entered Washburn School of Law in 1996. During law school, he completed an externship in the felony domestic violence unit at the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and co-chaired felony trials. After he graduated from Washburn School of Law, he became a prosecutor for the City of Lynnwood where he effectively prosecuted a high volume of misdemeanor offenses. He continued his career as a prosecutor at the Snohomish County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. As a Snohomish County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, he prosecuted a complete range of felony and misdemeanor offenses including drug, theft, domestic violence, DUI’s, and serious assault cases. He is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, Snohomish County Bar Association, Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
He attended and completed the United States Air Force Judge Advocate Staff Officer School and is a commissioned officer for the Washington Air National Guard. As a Deputy Staff Judge Advocate (JAG), he defends military personnel facing adverse actions on drill weekends. He has been admitted to practice law in the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces in Washington, D.C. He received numerous Air Force awards and decorations including; Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon, Air Force Training Ribbon, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
